Violent video games impact young children and teens in many negative ways. According to the Harvard Mental Health Letter from Harvard University, violent video games increase the aggressive thinking and behavior in teens and children. This letter also stated that boys are more likely to use violent video games than girls would. This article showed that violent games do correlate with real world violence or aggressive acts.
When teens repeatedly take part in violent video games, they begin to believe that violence is "cool" and a way to solve problems. After playing any violent video game for more than 5 hours, the brain will start to lose memory and not focus on important matters, such as school. Many violent video games do not relate to real world situations. Robbing banks will not give you any sort of benefits. You will only end up in jail. Games that portray violent situations, increase the amount of shootings and murders. One example of my own experience with violent video games was my brother, he thoroughly enjoyed playing Call of Duty two. Once after he had been playing for a while, I asked him to stop. My brother then became angry and began hitting me and screaming “die you stupid zombie”. This showed he was influenced by the game to act in a violent matter.
Violent video games should not be played by teens and young children. My evidence shows that violent games impact kids socially, mentally, physically and only produce negative results for a child's future. The Harvard Mental Health Letter from Harvard University stated that 97% of teens who play violent video games develop more aggressive habits than those who play games that test your intellectual ability. This clearly shows that violent video games do make kids think and act aggressively and should not be played.
