Banning Football
Banning football will not solve the concussion problem. Instead, the NFL should bring greater awareness to the issue so that coaches and players understand how to prevent injuries and administer proper treatment if they occur. Sports safely needs to be taught at the beginning of each season, so athletes understand the risks of playing with symptoms of a brain injury. Also when you play football you enter at your own risk. Before you join a team you should be aware of all the possible injuries. They should make changes to the tackling protocol.
When a player joins the NFL he wants to play. They choose to join when they are adults. Concussions are very common in the NFL. “I’m a big football fan, but if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football” (Obama, August 23 2015). Coaches and athletes should be informed of all injuries, how to treat them, and the new rules in the sport. The NFL says “ In 2012, the NFL experienced a total of 189 concussions during their regular season, which means there were about 11 concussions week.” It’s your choice to join and put yourself in the risk of getting a concussion. “The NFL has made numerous rule changes to reduce the number of concussions suffered by players while making the game safer.” This is from newslea. NFL referees will take on more responsibility this season to protect players from helmet-first hits to their heads and necks.
