Abortion

Imagine being a twelve-year-old girl. You are at a family gathering, and your uncle committed incest on you. Being only twelve, you are not powerful nor strong enough to stop him. He threatens to murder people you love if you are to speak of his crimes. Two months later, still traumatized, you realized you have a defined bump sticking out of your stomach. Your life is ruined by no fault of your own, and you are forced to bring a child into the world under awful circumstances. However, if there was a way to get rid of the fetus before it is even born, would you? Some states are fortunate enough to have the choice of abortion. Even though many people claim that abortion is evil and goes against nature, abortion can be good too. It can prevent harmful situations for future children, so they will not have through difficult situations that previous people had to go through. It also can reduce poverty for future generations, and making abortion illegal is unconstitutional according to the 19th amendment, because women should have the right to choose as they please to their bodies.
Sometimes kids that are barley even teenagers have no choice but to bring a human into a world of danger, risk, and abuse. Growing up in these conditions can cause the child to become parts of shady, illegal things that can end them in jail for things like drug charges, robbery, gang activity, and even murder. If abortions were legalized everywhere, it could reduce the crime rates for future generations. Also, why would someone choose the have a kid if they don’t have access to the proper resources or experience to care for a baby? Growing up in poverty can have a major effect on kids, “children who experience poverty before the age of nine are at higher risk of developing behavioral disorders, greater morbidity for chronic disease, and even premature death” (Economist,2015). No mother would want that for their children. That is why stopping them from being exposed to the harsh world when they are very young is the kindest thing to do. “The right of citizens of the United States…shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex”. This quote from the 19th amendment states that women can have choices that have to do with not only their basic rights, but their body as well; and if they don’t want to carry a baby, they shouldn’t have to.
For these three reasons, abortion should be legal in all states and countries. Abortions can help future generations by lowering crime rates, and can reduce the number of kids exposed to poverty, and abortions are a women’s choice, and no one should take that right away from them. Ultimately, abortions should solely be a women’s choice, no matter the conditions. She is the one who should have the final say in whether she wants a child or not.
