Concealed Carry
Adults should be able to carry concealed weapons since it is their right to bear arms and to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from harm. They should be able to do that instead of fearing that something bad might happen to them.
Statistics have shown that as more adults receive concealed carry permits, the murder rates have dropped in many states. The Senior Vice President of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Larry Keene says, “More law-abiding citizens own fire-arms for self-protection, and crime continues to decline.” The crime rate in concealed carry states has also dropped as more permits have been issued.
The number of concealed carry permits that have been issued in the last few years has increased dramatically. There has been a 178% increase of permits issued just since 2007. The number of permits issued went from 4.6 million to 12.8 million just in the last ten years. Statistics show that the number of concealed carry permits issued had a major increase after Barack Obama took office in 2008.
According to a recent report, concealed carriers are some of the most law-abiding citizens in the United States. Some of them follow the law even more carefully than police officers do. The executive director of Gun Owners of America, Larry Pratt says, “The last thing a concealed carrier wants to do is get into a situation where they have to use the gun.” Adults who carry concealed guns do not want or intend to use their gun. They just want it as a precaution in case they are ever in a life or death situation and must use it to save their own life or the lives of others.
Adults should be able to carry concealed weapons so they are able to protect themselves and in many cases, stop a crime. They have the right to protect themselves in a serious situation and they should be able to protect themselves and others.
