The building of the Atomic Bombs was good for America creating many jobs, halted German effort and, leading to the end of World War II.
Today the use of uranium is an important source of energy for many people. Back in 1941, Albert Einstein wrote a letter to the president of the time Franklin D. Roosevelt that was all about the use of uranium and building an Atomic Bomb. Albert Einstein predicted that you should “expect that the element uranium may be turned into a new important source of energy.” On the other hand, after FDR was no longer president and after we had dropped the Atomic Bomb who stated, “I made one great mistake in my life-when I signed that letter.” Although FDR did not like his decision, the Atomic Bomb did a lot of good for the United States.
The Atomic Bomb brought an end to World War II. Americans progress on the atomic bomb trumped the research made by the Germans and halted their V-1 and V-2 rocket programs. The A-Bomb may have brought an end to WWII, but not ethnically killing around 80,000 civilians and destroying two major Japanese cities. Jobs opened up through the research of uranium and design the atomic bomb through the Manhattan Project.
The Manhattan Project was made for the president’s request to build a bomb unlike any other. The Manhattan Project was led by the greatest minds in America, Britain, and France. The project created 120,000 jobs in researching uranium and bomb design. From these jobs, many smart people and leaders came out. However, these jobs cost 2 billion dollars which is about 26 billion dollars today.
Overall the Atomic Bomb benefited the American people halting German abilities bringing an end to WWII, and creating jobs.
