Tablets should replace textbooks in K-12 schools. There are many advantages for students to use tablets in place of textbooks. Some advantages are they have a lighter weight and smaller size, the ability to have multiple books or resources in one place, accessibility to internet and databases and all the helpful applications and multi-media opportunities.
Textbooks are heavy, they take up a lot of room and it would be easier if there were tablets instead of textbooks. On ProCon.org, it stated that the use of tablets is supported by most teachers and students. Tablets are much lighter than print textbooks. According to an article from neatoday.org, the devices also allow students to get up-to-the-minute information, unlike textbooks that quickly become outdated.
Tablets can hold hundreds of textbooks, save the environment by lowering the amount of printing, increase student interactivity and creativity, and digital textbooks are cheaper than print textbooks. It is easier to work on an iPad or something similar because you have more digital resources than you do in a textbook, also you can find the information you need faster on the internet and databases. When students have more access to information, they can do more, and learn more. This will lead to improved standardized test scores.
