Each day, we are exposed to many germs in our daily lives. A vaccine is a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease There is no proven evidence that vaccinations cause certain illnesses. Some people are not vaccinated for reasons such as religion, allergies, or others.
Consequences
At Mendon Pediatrics, in Mendon New York, a nurse answered some questions about vaccinations. She said that about one percent of patients at the practice do not vaccinate. About 30 out of 3,000 children. She also said that some families/children vaccinate on alternate. Not getting your child vaccinated could put them at risk for many illnesses. We asked if there were any patients that did not vaccinate and developed more fatal illnesses, and she said that they had lost a baby to whooping cough because the whole family was not vaccinated and the baby was susceptible to and illness they were exposed to.
There are fatal consequences to not vaccinating your child. For school, vaccinations should be required to keep all of the students and staff safe.
The Argument
There are two sides to the issue on vaccinations: that vaccinations should be required, and the side that says it is the choice of the family whether they vaccinate the child or not.
There is no scientific evidence that vaccinations lead to disorders or specific illnesses/ diseases. They are simply to prevent illnesses. If one child’s parents/guardian choose not to vaccinate their child, another student who cannot be vaccinated due to allergies, can be put at high risk for fatal illnesses. School should be a safe place, and with the risk of viruses being contracted it is not safe for certain students who cannot be vaccinated. Also, children put a lot of objects in their mouths and can be exposed to many germs.
Conclusion
Vaccinations should be required for school. Besides religious, and allergenic reasons, there are no other reasons not to vaccinate. Many children are put in danger if vaccinations are not required.
