Apollo 11
By: Jack Graney
July 20, 1969, at 20:18, the whole world changed. The space race had ended with the USA on top. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans on the moon, and marked it with the American flag. As Neil Armstrong once said, “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” (Neil Armstrong), but was it all an elaborate hoax?
There are any skeptical events throughout history that people have theorized about and come up with conspiracies for, including 9/11, Elvis Presley’s death, missing planes, and most importantly, the Apollo 11 moon landing. The conspiracies state that the USA was behind in the infamous space race, and were looking for a way to give the country a boost during the Cold War, and by winning, the US would be back on top. The technology had yet to be developed to fully get them to the moon and back, they were forced to stage the event by launching a rocket high in the atmosphere only to then have it come crashing back down in the middle of the ocean. Prior to the event, NASA, along with the US government, had set up a studio where all the footage would be taken. Even with these two extremely powerful group working together, skeptics are still able to point out flaws in their design.
As seen in “figure 1”, there are two very distich differences that anyone with a trained eye could notice. Space, descried on earth as a vast area of nothingness, yet filled “a self-luminous gaseous spheroidal celestial body of great mass which produces energy by means of nuclear fusion reactions” (www.merriam-webster.com), or stars. So if this were truly space, there would be millions of stars in the background because there’s no atmosphere to block them out. Another flaw in their design is the flag. On the moon, there is no atmosphere, meaning no weather, leading to no wind. So this being said, then how is the flag is waving as is there was wind?
As many still remain skeptic in this historical event, despite the government’s attempts to cover it up. But are the American people on to something?
